Vintage Wedding Wheels are no longer just the car you arrive in, but a whole host of mobile options are now available to enhance your reception too.
Being a wedding photographer from 2004 to 2012 I have seen a number of wedding trends come and go, but it seems nothing can currently stop the rise of vintage vehicles and the spectacular buzz they can bring to a wedding.
Not long ago we purchased a vintage caravan, which had been lovingly refurbished and resprayed and was looking great. But we didn’t want to sleep in her, we saw a niche that hadn’t been filled, a mobile photo booth! Quirky, fun, original, Rosie (that’s her name!) has been getting rave reviews ever since and we can vouch for the keen interest brides have in finding something unique for their wedding reception.

Entering into the wedding industry with our caravan took us on a journey through Twitter and vintage wedding fairs like Belle’s Events and we have seen some amazing ideas for once neglected vintage vehicles. Many of my favorites are, naturally, food based! Vera Vanillapod, for example, offers a quite gorgeous vintage ice cream van, which also offers cakes or sweets. We also love making friends at fairs along the way, it’s great bumping into Cin Cin, who have taken a battered old Fiat van and transformed it into a gleaming mobile Prosecco and nibbles bar. Genius.
Weddings first saw a trend for bringing a little something extra to a wedding reception around 5 years ago when ice-cream bikes started making an appearance, and of course the ever-popular hog roast. And while these are still great news for wedding guests, you can’t argue when a vintage Citroen van turns up and promptly starts offering crepes from the back. We were at a wedding with Rosie, our vintage caravan, in Sussex at the end of last year when Creperie Luiarrived with its throaty engine noise as it maneuvered into position. Amazing, what an exciting extra for your guests to talk about.
But why not be selfish for a minute, it is your wedding after all. Just imagine rolling up to your wedding in a funky vintage Beetle like Belle herself, or leaving for a honeymoon break in a totally cool camper van. You’d be the envy of all your friends as you disappear off into the night!
So from Ice Cream Vans, to Nibbles on Wheels, From Caravan Photo Booths to Citroen based Crepes, you can really make a wedding reception special and totally different by choosing a vintage wedding vehicle. Although choosing which one might be the hardest part!
